Getting in the mood before you begin…

The Goodbye, Hello journal is in its essence a conversation between you and yourself. A chance for you to take a step back from the rush of life and to really spend some quality focused time, reflecting on all that you’ve been through in just one year, all that you’re grateful for and where you want to go next in life.

To do that, you need to step away from the noise and distractions of daily life, and into a space of quiet reflection and stillness. This is not a journal to quickly fill in on your way home, half thinking about what life you want to live and half thinking about what you want to buy for dinner! That will only have you dreaming from the neck up. To really get the most out of your Goodbye Hello journey, you need to get into a space of calm and stillness.

Here are a few ways you can help yourself to do that…

  • Do an activity beforehand that gets you out of your head and into your body, such as yoga, swimming, a run in the park or dancing

  • Take a walk in nature and get present to the here and now before you sit down to start

  • Do it in a space that makes you feel inspired or at peace and happy  - like your favourite cosy cafe or somewhere with a beautiful view

  • Switch off your phone

  • Light a candle

  • Play your favourite relaxing music

It’s also beautiful to share your biggest insights, lessons, dreams and intentions from your journal with your loved ones - that can be a special occasion too.
